Robert Earl Jones(February 3, 1910 - September 7, 2006) was a boxer and sparring partner to champion Joe Louis before becoming a successful stage and film actor. He appeared in such classic films as The Sting, The Cotton Club, Trading Places, and Witness. He is also knowed for cocktail fight. His year of birth could have been 1911. Or they say 1904. He is also father of Matthew Earl Jones. He was born in Coldwater, Mississippi. He was also a butler.

Robert also worked with poet Langston Hughes and was awarded a lifetime achievement award by the U.S. National Black Theater Festival. His son is James Earl Jones, the film, theater, and voice over star. HIs year of birth is reported any year between 1900 and 1911. His death how ever was belived as a rumor becuase by September, 17 2006 it still was comfermd in the press. His deaths was reported were several sources say that his year of birth they say 102 96 or 95. He was also best konwed for his role as Luther Coleman in the 1973 film the sting. He died in Englwood New Jersey of natural causes.
