"You're gonna kill me, too? (Angela nods her head 'yes') Well, how are you gonna do it? A knife? A drill? How about a chainsaw? Fire? Battery acid? Or you're just gonna cut my head off, like you did to my son's? Come on, Angela. What's it gonna be?" (Angela: "A gun!")

Sleepaway Camp III (1989)

Barney Whitmore was one of the police officers who arrested Angela Baker at Camp Arawak in 1983. She murdered his son five years later at Camp Rolling Hills in 1988, and they eventually had a show-down at Camp New Horizons, where she shot him. He is Angela Baker's 41st victim.

Background[]

Barney, a police officer and father in New York, arrested Angela Baker at Camp Arawak. His wife divorced him, because she couldn't handle him being a cop, but still had joint custody of his son, Sean, who he kept informed of Angela's progress through the legal and medical system.

Films[]

Sleepaway Camp (1983)[]

He did not appear in Sleepaway Camp but it was said that he arrested Angela prior to Sleepaway Camp 2.

Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988)[]

Sean attended Camp Rolling Hills, and mentioned his father a few times to his friends and Angela.

Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989)[]

Was a counselor at Camp New Horizons but was shot to death by Angela Baker with Riff's handgun.

Character[]

Barney is an all-American type good guy. He is the only character in Sleepaway Camp III without some sort of amoral or dubious streak.

Barney Whitmore is a cop, but he has taken a leave of absence so he could be a counselor at Camp New Horizons to help cope with the loss of his teenage son, Sean, who was murdered at the same camp one year prior by psycopathic killer Angela Baker.

When the campers split up, Barney is put in charge of Tony, Greg, Anita and Marcia . Barney takes his job as a counselor seriously and makes sure the kids he is put in charge of have a good time. He even makes his group hamburgers for dinner instead of the fish Lilly told him he should serve them.

Barney's corpse

On the morning of the final day of the campers being seperated into groups, Angela came to Barney's campsite and told him that Herman wanted her to trade places with Marcia. Barney insisted he supervise the switch and took Angela and Marcia to Herman's campsite. Angela sprained her ankle on the way there and the three headed to the main cabin to dress it with the first aid kit. While Barney wrapped her ankle, Angela made some cryptic comments about Lilly that Marcia had to go and investigate. When Marcia found Lilly's headless corpse, she ran back to Barney in hysterics, who told her to run away as fast as she could. Realizing that he was in the company of his son's killer, Barney grabbed a plank to defend himself and confronted Angela. Unfortunately, Angela pulled out a .45 caliber handgun she had taken from Riff and shot him two times in the chest and one time in the stomach at point blank range. Angela then hangs his corpse upside down on a tree.

Behind the Scenes[]

The script describes him as "in his early 40's, Barney is a handsome, solidly built man. He wears jeans and a polo shirt."

Named after Barney Rubble from The Flinstones.

Barney wasn't seen in Sleepaway Camp, but it is referenced several times that he was the one who arrested Angela. While Officer Frank Breton was at the camp, he presumably would have called for backup once he realized a killer was at large. Barney would have been one of the policemen sent to assist.
